Switch to spreading with PW 50 and keep your proven winter operation plan

For many local authorities and road maintenance depots, winter means one thing above all: a well thought-out and reliable spreading plan to combat black ice and keep roads safe. PW 30 - a proven pre-wetted salt mixture of salt and brine - has established itself as the standard. However, new studies show that spreading with PW 50 is better and more effective. Switching to PW 50 can significantly increase road safety, save costs in the long term and protect the environment.

But how complicated is the switch? What does this mean for the existing fleet of spreaders? Will the tried-and-tested spreading planning have to be completely redone? We have good news: Thanks to our new Schmidt Stratos FS 50 Hopper, you don't have to throw your plans overboard. You can easily switch to PW 50 without much effort.

Change to PW 50 – better but with a catch

The advantages of PW 50 are obvious (see box below), but the challenge is that the increased brine ratio of PW 50 shortens the spreading range of the spreaders in use. The vehicles have to return more frequently to pick up new material, which makes winter maintenance slower and less efficient. The previous planning has to be completely rethought. Savings are made on salt requirements, but costs are incurred elsewhere. A dilemma that makes many winter operation managers hesitate to switch to PW 50.

The solution - the Stratos FS 50 Hopper from Schmidt

In order to make the safe and environmentally friendly spreading of PW 50s more attractive, we at Aebi Schmidt, as an innovation driver in the field of winter technology, have developed a simple but ingenious solution: The Schmidt Stratos FS 50 Hopper - a retrofit system that can be easily applied to all previous medium and large size series of the Schmidt Stratos spreaders and other spreaders of similar size. This unique solution makes the changeover to PW 50 simple, fast and uncomplicated.

Efficient without detours

Your proven winter operation planning remains intact! The FS 50 Hopper ensures that the range of your spreaders can cover the same distance with PW 50 as with PW 30 - or even further. No new route and load cycle planning, you take full advantage of PW 50 with your existing fleet as you maximize the efficiency of your spreaders. If you are replacing a spreader in your fleet as planned, simply order the FS 50 Hopper as an option with the spreaders from the Stratos series.

With the Stratos FS 50 Hopper, Schmidt offers you an uncomplicated solution that makes your existing fleet future-proof.
