The New EL+ Enters the Pavement Marking Mix

The EL+ (pronounced E-L-Plus) is an exciting new member to MB Pavement Marking Equipment’s robust family of striping solutions. Much like the development of any new product, the EL+ was engineered and built with an eye toward production speed, simplified function, and (most importantly) meeting customer needs. The EL+ is a perfect fit for contractors and municipalities that want a standardized paint striping truck that gets the job done.

A Small Truck that Fills a Big Need

The EL+ was designed as a “work-ready” striping option that offers solid features, such as top-notch precision on-edge and center-line striping. Daniel Lowe, Senior Mechanical Engineer on the development team for the EL+ says, “We designed the EL+ with standardization as a primary focus. This benefits both us and our customers, with short lead time is near the top of the list. We wanted to strike a balance between creating a standardized design for streamlined production, but one that also offers some customization for the different needs of different customers.”

The Bells and Whistles

There are several innovations that set the EL+ apart from other vehicles of this type. While many trucks have paint drums located in the center of the vehicle, the stainless tanks of the EL+ are positioned on the outside edges of the bed. This design makes them easy to load and refill, and (very importantly) accessible from the ground. Operators can safely and comfortably stand on the ground for routine filling, flushing, or maintenance. In fact, there’s a separate paint hose, so there’s no need to dismantle the fill hose. All the paint “plumbing” is located below deck.

Additional innovations with the EL+ include a 5-gallon air receiver tank, a cyclone hydraulic reservoir that reduces hydraulic oil volume, and a fully adjustable RAM (ball and arm) with a robust telescoping outrigger.

Stirring Up Excitement

With the EL+, operators can get up to speed quickly with easy-to-use controls. Plus, there’s no CDL requirement for driving and operating the EL+, which is built on an Isuzu NPRHD, 14.5K GVWR chassis. Imran Malik, Managing Director at MB Pavement, says, “We listened to customers asking for a simplified and affordable paint striping truck that is easy to use and maintain. We also succeeded in developing a piece of equipment that was tailored to offer great capabilities with readily available materials. The R&D team laid out the EL+ in a way that checks all those boxes.”

As Mike Vander Zwaag, Sales Representative for MB Pavement, adds, “With the units I’ve sold, it seems the EL+ customers really seem to gravitate to its simplicity and maneuverability. It’s easy to use and they can put it to work very quickly.” It’s no surprise that all these exciting innovations have come from MB. And, judging from the enthusiasm of customers, you’ll be seeing the EL+ making a “marked” difference in communities across the nation.
