Aebi Schmidt UK is proud to be the leading winter maintenance fleet provider at Dublin Airport where nine jet sweepers, two compact jet sweepers, four de-icers, two truck-mounted spreaders, 12 front-mounted snow brushes, two snow blowers and 32 KL-Vs snow ploughs, a Street King 660 and an AS 660 mid-sized sweeper, two Swingo compact sweepers and a Cleango 500 are in operation - all of which can run on HVO without modification.
The winter and sweeping fleet contributed to the use of 85,000 litres of diesel annually. Dublin Airport transitioned away from diesel and began using HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) to reduce its carbon footprint and help meet its sustainability targets. HVO is a fossil-free alternative to diesel and can result in up to a 90% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Compared to diesel, HVO is also easier and better to use at very cold temperatures. At Dublin airport, HVO has removed the need for diesel and reduced heavy fleet carbon emissions by 200 tonnes. Aebi Schmidt Airport Account Manager David Harvey said: “We are immensely proud to support Dublin Airport in its transition to HVO, and we will continue to develop our products in line with our customers‘ and market requirements.“
