The Meyer® Replaceable Tailgate (RTG) Spreader is a stainless-steel, center discharge, electric-powered spreader designed to replace the vehicle's existing tailgate. Ideal for medium-duty dump trucks (15,000 GVW and larger) with less than 44 inches of bed floor to ground clearance, it fits truck beds ranging from 84 to 90 inches in width. The RTG features a self-contained auger that can spread salt, sand, or a combination thereof, from 4 to 40 feet—perfect for icy driveways and snowy parking lots.

Construction

The Meyer Replaceable Tailgate Spreader features marine-grade sealed electrical connections that ensure a watertight seal. Its slot and tab construction delivers a tighter, more durable fit, and the hopper’s 3/8-inch auger flighting is the thickest in the industry. A hinged top cover protects the spreader during regular dump body operations and allows the dump truck to function normally when not spreading. The RTG's electric safety interlock system prevents auger operation when the bottom door is open, enhancing safety during cleanout and maintenance.

Motor

The Replaceable Tailgate features a sealed stainless steel auger motor and a ½-hp explosion-proof spinner motor, providing exceptional reliability and performance in harsh winter conditions.
