Schmidt Wasa 300⁺ impresses during the spring maintenance season in Asker in Norway

When Norway wakes up from the long winter months in spring, the traffic areas are cleaned of the gravel spread during winter maintenance. After a convincing test season with a second-hand machine in 2023, Øvre Bakke Gård has entrusted this task to a new Schmidt Wasa 300+ sweeper in this season.

Sweeper solution with results that speak for themselves

Many regions in Norway rely on gravel for winter maintenance to keep traffic areas safe. As soon as the ice and snow have melted, it must be collected of the ground at latest by May 17 - the Norwegian national day. It is the peak season for sweeping work for Kristian Bakke, his team from Øvre Bakke Gård, and his fleet of tractors. A reliable and efficient machine is indispensable during this busy period.

Until 2023, Kristian had no experience with a sweeper like the Schmidt Wasa 300+, instead used brushes on tractor front loaders and wheel loaders to clear gravel from industrial areas and residential areas. He bought his first Wasa 300+ second-hand in the spring of 2023 after seeing the sweeper in use at a local company and its good results. "I was so pleased with it that I traded it in for a new one now for the 2024 season", Kristian tells us.

How does the Schmidt sweeper impress when sweeping gravel?

"The Wasa 300+ has tremendous maneuverability and with a suitably large tractor like the one I use; we are very efficient and agile even in the tightest spaces." Kristian was also pleasantly surprised by how well it picks up the gravel and how easy the sweeper is to handle. With several tractors in the fleet, the Wasa 300+ is the ideal solution, as it can be attached to one of the tractors as required and therefore offers great flexibility.

The Schmidt Wasa 300+'s low-noise and low-dust mechanical sweeping system ensures impressively clean results. The direct drive via the hydraulic motor through the towing vehicle is predestined for collecting small pieces of grit, sand, leaves and gravel. The sweeping material is transported by two side brushes to the center of the machine. A roller brush at the rear of the machine forwards the material to the elevator and from there the material is transported to the large hopper. The innovative, adjustable roller brush cover and the optimum ground adjustment of the brushes ensure optimum sweeping results after just one pass.

Tip for the most efficient daily use

To make the most efficient use this sweeper, Kristian recommends to anyone who wants to use, or is already using, the Wasa 300+ as a sweeping solution: " Use a smaller tractor that has good steering and is easy to maneuver and the experience will be just as good as the one we've had since we started using the machine."
