Moments of success and a promise for the future
The Swiss bobsleigh, skeleton and luge athletes have once again demonstrated their exceptional skills and potential this season. They have achieved numerous successes with impressive performances on the European and international stage. The home races on the natural ice track in St. Moritz were a cause for celebration among the invited guests of Aebi Schmidt Switzerland. Top Swiss athletes Melanie Hasler and Michi Vogt thrilled the home crowd with their podium finishes in the 2-man bobsleigh. Both were able to confirm their performances with a European Championship medal in Sigulda, Latvia. Natalie Maag was the only Swiss luger to compete at the World Championships in Altenberg. She secured the title of runner-up in the single-seater race after a sensational comeback.
In addition to top placings in World Cup races, the numerous podium places at the Junior World Championships in St. Moritz and the Junior European Championships in Innsbruck are a great promise for the future of bobsleigh. This also applies to the young skeleton athletes who gathered in Lillehammer this year for the Junior World Championships and brought Swiss Sliding three medals.
In total, the Swiss Sliding athletes celebrated 48 international successes in all three sports last season and are on course for the upcoming 2026 Olympic Games in Milano Cortina.
Scary moment in Altenberg
The accident involving our men's 4-man bobsleigh in training in Altenberg was a major shock and setback. While pilot Michi Vogt was able to return to action shortly afterwards in the final World Cup race of the season in Lake Placid, his pusher Sandro Michel will need a long time to recover from his serious injuries. We wish him a speedy recovery and a speedy return to the sport.
The next winter is sure to come
For Swiss Sliding and also for us as a sponsor, the 2023/2024 season was a rollercoaster ride of emotions. We congratulate the athletes and admire their commitment and dedication to the sport. After the season is before the season. With this in mind, we are already looking forward to next season.
