Avinor tests the first fully electric airport sprayer in Oslo

Since January, the first fully electric airport sprayer has been tested at Gardermoen Airport in Oslo. The new eASP from Schmidt is built on an all-electric Volvo FM truck. With its new spraying system, the eASP applies the deicing agents even more efficiently and in a way that conserves resources. The positive feedback from Avinor has also sparked curiosity at other airports.

Avinor is Norway's largest state-owned airport operator and owner. With its ambitious goals, Avinor is taking a leading role in the future-oriented aviation industry, including the goal of significantly reducing emissions in its own operations by 2030. Fully electric sprayers, like the Schmidt eASP, are an important part of the project towards fossil-free airport operations.

Tests under real conditions spark curiosity

The positive experiences with the electric sprayer have sparked interest. A delegation from London Gatwick Airport recently visited Aebi Schmidt Norge and Avinor in Oslo to see a demonstration of the eASP. On this occasion, Ulrich Maurer, CEO Aebi Schmidt Norge, emphasised the importance of the collaboration between Aebi Schmidt and Avinor: "The collaboration with Avinor enables us to develop new products that meet the high requirements and ensures that these products are properly tested under real conditions."
