Meyer Dealer JTI Stays Loyal to the Hometown Favorite

Like Meyer, its dealer partner, JTI, Inc., celebrates a long history. John's Trailer Company was the precursor to the present JTI, Inc. The company was founded in 1935, initially building and selling hay wagons, trailers, hitches and axles. JTI is now in its fourth generation of family ownership, and continues to be a trusted equipment dealer, selling Meyer snowplows and salt spreaders for the past two decades.

Why Meyer? Andrew Startzenbach, JTI General Manager and the great grandson of the company’s founder, answers that question.

Located in Oakwood Village, Ohio, JTI is the closest dealer to Meyer’s Cleveland manufacturing and production facility. Meyer invented the snowplow and has been a leader in the industry, both pillars that made it an easy decision for Startzenbach’s family to choose Meyer when JTI decided to sell snow and ice equipment. Having Meyer in JTI’s back yard – a mere 20 miles away – sealed the deal, providing peace of mind around quick delivery and service. “Meyer is the hometown favorite,” says Startzenbach.

So, what keeps the partnership going? “It boils down to quality products and great service,” shared Startzenbach.

For nearly 90 years, JTI has sold equipment to companies and municipalities on the Greater Cleveland and Akron, Ohio areas. JTI has developed an ambitious five-year growth plan, with plans to open a new, larger facility to have more space for equipment inventory, sales and maintenance, and ultimately expand its customer base. Meyer will continue to be a valued partner in JTI’s future success – JTI looks forward to having the space to keep additional Meyer snow and ice equipment on hand.

“Meyer is the only snowplow brand we sell and service,” said Startzenbach. “We feel Meyer is the best, and we educate our customers on Meyer plow performance, reliability and quality. Over the years, we have built a loyal customer base that generates a lot of repeat business. We wouldn’t have that if we weren’t selling quality equipment,” he added.

JTI’s dedicated management, sales, service and parts teams are likely the biggest reason for the company’s success. Offering a one-stop shop for the full life cycle of the equipment it sells, JTI customers can rest assured that Genuine Meyer replacement parts are in stock – or can be ordered and delivered quick – and trained mechanics can repair any problem. JTI technicians regularly attend Meyer Technical Service Schools to learn about new products and systems.

“We really value the great working relationship we have with everyone on the Meyer team,” Startzenbach said. “We get great support from sales and customer service. And warranty. Meyer offers a 5-year warranty on their equipment – it’s the best in the industry. And, should we need to file a warranty claim, it’s an easy process,” he added.

JTI looks forward to another 90 years and beyond of providing quality equipment and great service to its customers.
